A Plan for Re-Opening the Church Building

of Long Shoals Baptist

_________________________________________________

“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD.’ “

Psalm 122:1

Based on the teaching found in “The Acts of the Apostles,” the early church spent time in prayer before every significant decision and movement of the Holy Spirit.

            Acts 1:4-8, 12-14                                             Acts 10

            Acts 4:23-35                                                    Acts 13:1-3

            Acts 6:1-7

Long Shoals Baptist will take a Biblical approach to what is bound to be an important decision – we will begin by coming together to pray. We will stay aware of what is happening in our area concerning the Covid-19 Virus and adjust our plans as necessary.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

                                                                            2 Timothy 1:7

We will move forward trusting the Lord, because He loves us, and seeking His wisdom and the guidance of His Holy Spirit.

We will observe social distancing, so please respect the space of others by refraining from hugs and handshakes. Chairs in the Fellowship Room are spread out so that you may sit as a couple, with family of 3 or 4, or by yourself (please do not move chairs around). The Fellowship Room will be wiped down before each meeting. We have disposable masks for those who need one. Hand sanitizer will be available. Please keep your movements confined to the Fellowship Room, front hallway, and front hallway restrooms, so we can know where we need to sanitize after meetings, until we move into the Sanctuary and Sunday School Rooms.

The Deacons and I have agreed to the following plan:

             Wednesday, June 24, 2020, 7:00pm – Prayer Service

                        Prayer in the Fellowship Room

50-person limit (sign up to attend so we can know the number)

Sunday, June 28, 2020 – Prayer and Communion Service

Two meeting times 9:00am and 11:00am

Choose one service time and sign up / only the pastor at both times

Prayer and Communion in the Fellowship Room using disposable communion

                                                                        bread/cups

50-person limit for each service time

            Wednesday, July 1, 2020, 7:00pm – Prayer Service

Prayer in the Fellowship Room with limit of 50 persons (sign up to attend)

Praying toward ……. Sunday, July 5, 2020 – Worship Service

                        9:00am and 11:00am

By this time, we will have a better idea of number and whether to hold it in the

                            Fellowship Room or the Sanctuary.

Sign up in one of the following ways, leaving your name, phone number, and number of people coming with you:             1. Call the Church office at (828) 684-7000,

or   2. Call Pastor Roger at (828) 458-9729,

or   3. Text Pastor Roger at (828) 458-9729,

or   4. Send an email to LSBC2day@yahoo.com.

Please contact us by 8:00pm the night before the service you are signing up for.If more than 50 people show up, we will have to ask them to come back at another time.

We will continue the online Sunday and Wednesday services, since we realize some cannot come yet, and others are not comfortable with being in a group setting at this point. Also, our online services are reaching people well beyond our community – praise the Lord!

Please sign up and come be with us if you are comfortable with doing so. If you are not feeling well, especially if you are running an elevated temperature, then please stay home and take care of yourself.

We want to offer a time for prayer and fellowship, but with safety and respect for one another.

We will need volunteer helpers to:

                 -          Clean after services

                 -          Usher

                 -          Whatever is needed, since we are in new territory.

“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God,

that you may know that you have eternal life,

and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him,

that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask,

we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

1 John 5:13-15

Let us walk in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as we move forward in prayer, praise, and witness!
