Seeking to Walk with God

Wed., August 19, 2020

"I will love You, O LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock and my fortress
and my deliverer; my God, my strength,
in whom I will trust; my shield and
the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold.
I will call upon the LORD;
who is worthy to be praised;
so shall I be saved from my
enemies."
Psalm 18:1-3

"In my distress I called upon the
LORD, and cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His
temple, and my cry came before
Him, even to His ears."
Psalm 18:6

"For You will light my lamp;
the LORD my God will
enlighten my darkness.
For by You I can run against
a troop,
by my God I can leap over
a wall.
As for God, His way is perfect;
the word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who
trust in Him.
For who is God,
except the LORD?
And who is a rock,
except our God?
Psalm 18:28-31

"The LORD lives!
Blessed be my Rock!
Let the God of my salvation
be exalted."
Psalm 18:46

"Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made
the heavens and the earth by Your
great power and outstretched arm.
There is nothing too hard for You."
Jeremiah 32:17

"For we do not want you to be ignorant,
brethren, of our trouble which came to
us in Asia: that we were burdened
beyond measure, above strength,
so that we despaired even of life.
Yes, we had the sentence of death
in ourselves, that we should not
trust in ourselves but in God who
raises the dead, who delivered us
from so great a death, and does
deliver us; in whom we trust
that He will still deliver us, ..."

"Bless those who persecute you;
bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice,
and weep with those who weep.
Be of the same mind toward one
another. Do not set your mind on
high things, but associate with the
humble. Do not be wise in your
own opinion.
Repay no one evil for evil.
Have regard for good things
in the sight of all men.
If it is possible, as much as
depends on you,
live peaceably with all men."

"When He had called the people to Himself,
with His disciples also,
He said to them,
'Whoever desires to come after Me,
let him deny himself, and take up his cross,
and follow Me.
For whoever desires to save his life
will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for My sake
and the gospel's will save it.
For what will it profit a man if he
gains the whole world,
and loses his own soul?
Or what will a man give in exchange
for his soul?
For whoever is ashamed of Me

of him the Son of Man also will
be ashamed when He comes
in the glory of His Father
with the holy angels.'"

THE WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST

"Who then is a faithful and wise servant,
whom his master made ruler over his
household, to give them food in
due season?
Blessed is that servant whom his
master, when he comes, will find
so doing.
Assuredly, I say to you that
he will make him ruler over all
his goods.
 But if that evil servant says in
his heart, 'My master is delaying
his coming,' and begins to beat
his fellow servants, and to eat and
drink with the drunkards,
the master of that servant will come
on a day when he is not looking
for him and at an hour that he is
not aware of, and will cut him
in two and appoint him his
portion with the hypocrites.
There shall be weeping and
gnashing of teeth."
Matthew 24:45-51

THE WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST

"Then two men will be in the field;
one will be taken and the other left.
Two women will be grinding at the mill;
one will be taken and the other left.
Watch therefore, for you do not know
what hour your Lord is coming.
But know this, that if the master of
the house had known what hour
the thief would come, he would
have watched and not allowed his
house to be broken into.
Therefore you also be ready,
for the Son of Man is coming at
an hour you do not expect."

When its branch has already become

you know that summer is near.
So you also, when you see all these
things, know that it is near

Assuredly, I say to you, this

For false christs and false prophets will

See, I have told you beforehand.
Therefore if they say to you, 'Look,

THE WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST

"Therefore when you see the
'abomination of desolation,' spoken of
by Daniel the prophet, standing in
the holy place" (whoever reads,
    let him understand), "then let those
who are in Judea flee to the
mountains. Let him who is on
the housetop not go down to take
anything out of his house.
And let him who is in the field not
go back to get his clothes.
But woe to those who are
pregnant and to those who are
nursing babies in those days!
And pray that your flight may
not be in winter or on the Sabbath.
For then there will be great
tribulation, such as has not been
since the beginning of the world
until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
And unless those days were shortened,
no flesh would be saved;
but for the elect's sake those days
will be shortened."

And then many will be offended,

Then many false prophets will

All things were created through Him

And He is before all things, and

And He is the head of the body,

  "So Good"

So good to be back in church today
And to see brothers and sisters
since we 've all been away

    So good to hear God's words of life
Amid all the protests, sickness and strife

    So good to partake communion,
          in remembrance of Him
'Jesus the Christ' who died for our sins

   So good to know that He always is there
No matter the trouble, sorrow or care

   So good to see that joy like this
Will someday, be everyday,
in heavenly bliss

  So good to say, "Praise be to His name"
In the hope that the world would
all do the same

"Also He spoke this parable to some
who trusted in themselves that they were
righteous, and despised others:
'Two men went up to the temple to pray,
one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with
himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not
like other men --- extortioners, unjust,
adulterers, or even as this tax collector.
'I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all
that I possess.'
And the tax collector, standing afar off,
     would not so much as raise his eyes to
heaven, but beat his breast, saying,
'God be merciful to me a sinner!'
I tell you, this man went down to his
house justified rather than the other;
for everyone who exalts himself
will be abased,
and he who humbles himself will
be exalted.' "
Luke 18:9-14

Until we truly get humble before God,
our nation will not change for the good.
It starts with me and you.
America's hope is revival and
spiritual awakening.

"Now it came to pass, when the time had
come for Him to be received up, that He
steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,
and sent messengers before His face.
And as they went, they entered a village
of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him.
But they did not receive Him, because
His face was set for the journey to
Jerusalem.
And when His disciples James and John
saw this, they said, 'Lord, do You want
us to command fire to come down from
heaven and consume them, just as
Elijah did?'
But He turned and rebuked them, and
said, 'You do not know what manner

did not come to destroy men's lives
but to save them.' And they went to
another village."

 What spirit are we of?

Do we know the Spirit of Christ?

As Christians, followers of Jesus,

Do we truly know their intentions?

We need more leaders like

U. S. Senator Tim Scott of

America needs is revival and

quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14, as well

as several other scripture passages.

The hard call to Kingdom living

 "You have heard that it was said,

'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'

But I tell you not to resist an evil person.

But whoever slaps you on your right

cheek, turn the other to him also.

If anyone wants to sue you and take

away your tunic, let him have your

cloak also.

And whoever compels you to go

one mile, go with him two.

Give to him who asks you, and

from him who wants to borrow from

you do not turn away.

You have heard that it was said,

'You shall love your neighbor and

hate your enemy.'

But I say to you, love your enemies,

bless those who curse you,

do good to those who hate you,

and pray for those who spitefully

use you and persecute you,

that you may be sons of your

Father in heaven; for He makes

His sun rise on the evil and on

the good, and sends rain on the

just and on the unjust.

For if you love those who love you,

what reward have you?

Do not even the tax collectors do

the same?

And if you greet your brethren only,

what do you do more than others?

Do not even the tax collectors do so?

Therefore you shall be

perfect (Greek = complete), just as your

Father in heaven is perfect."

abound still more and more in

knowledge and all discernment,

  that you may approve the things

that are excellent, that you may

be sincere and without offense

till the day of Christ, being filled

with the fruits of righteousness

which are by Jesus Christ, to the

glory and praise of God."

Philippians 1:9-11

"We Will Stand"

    You're my brother, you're my sister,

so take me by the hand.

Together we will work until He comes.

There's no foe that can defeat us

when we're walking side by side;

As long as there is love,

we will stand."

"Repay no one evil for evil.

Have regard for good things

in the sight of all men.

If it is possible, as much

as depends on you,

live peaceably with all men.

..... Do not be overcome by evil,

but overcome evil with good."

Romans 12:17-18, 21

"Behold, how good and how pleasant

it is for brethren to dwell together

in unity!

It is like the precious oil upon the head,

running down on the beard,

the beard of Aaron,

running down on the edge of

his garments.

It is like the dew of Hermon,

descending upon the mountains

of Zion;

for there the LORD commanded

the blessing --- life evermore."

Psalm 133:1-3

    "Blessed are the merciful,

for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,

  for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,

 for they shall be called sons of God."

Matthew 5:7-9

"Let your light so shine before men,

that they may see your good works

and glorify your Father in heaven."

Matthew 5:16

 "With what shall I come before the LORD,

and bow myself before the High God?

Shall I come before Him with burnt

offerings, with calves a year old?

Will the LORD be pleased with

thousands of rams,

ten thousand rivers of oil?

Shall I give my firstborn for my

transgression,

the fruit of my body for the sin

of my soul?

He has shown you, O man, what

is good;

and what does the LORD require

of you

but to do justly,

to love mercy,

and to walk humbly

with your God?"

Micah 6:6-8

 This is the life Jesus Christ

calls us to live in Him:

- to do justly

- to love mercy

- to walk humbly with our God

We can not do it without Jesus!

"First, I thank my God through Jesus

Christ for you all, that your faith is

spoken of throughout the whole world.

For God is my witness, whom I serve

with my spirit in the gospel of His Son,

that without ceasing I make mention

of you always in my prayers,

making request if, by some means,

now at last I may find a way in the

will of God to come to you.

For I long to see you, that I may

impart to you some spiritual gift,

so that you may be established ---

that is, that I may be encouraged

together with you by the mutual

faith both of you and me."

Romans 1:8-12

"In Christ There Is No East or West"

by John Oxenham (1852 - 1941)

In Christ there is no East or West,

In Him no South or North;

But one great fellowship of love

Throughout the whole wide earth.

In Him shall true hearts ev'rywhere

Their high communion find;

His service is the golden cord

Close binding all mankind.

Join hands then, children of the faith,

Whate'er your race may be;

Who serves my Father as a child

Is surely kin to me.

In Christ now meet both East and West,

In Him meet South and North;

All Christly souls are one in Him

Throughout the whole wide earth.

 "Some trust in chariots, and some

in horses; but we will remember

the name of the LORD our God."

Psalm 20:7

"Hallelujah, What a Savior!"

 "Man of sorrows!" what a name

For the Son of God who came

Ruined sinners to reclaim!

Hallelujah, what a Savior!

   Bearing shame and scoffing rude,

In my place condemned He stood,

Sealed my pardon with His blood;

Hallelujah, what a Savior!

    Guilty, vile and helpless we,

Spotless Lamb of God was He;

Full atonement! can it be?

Hallelujah, what a Savior!

    Lifted up was He to die,

"It is finished," was His cry;

Now in heav'n exalted high:

 Hallelujah, what a Savior!

 When He comes, our glorious King,

All His ransomed home to bring,

Then anew this song we'll sing:

Hallelujah, what a Savior!

The Psalms emphasize the point

that we are made to worship

the LORD:

"I will bless the LORD at all times;

  His praise shall continually be

in my mouth.

My soul shall make its boast

in the LORD;

the humble shall hear of it

and be glad.

Oh, magnify the LORD with me,

and let us exalt His name together."

Psalm 34:1-3

"Give unto the LORD the glory

due to His name;

worship the LORD

in the beauty of holiness."

Psalm 29:2

  "Oh come, let us sing to

the LORD! Let us shout joyfully

to the Rock of our salvation."

Psalm 95:1

"For this reason I bow my knees

to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

from whom the whole family in heaven

and earth is named,

that He would grant you, according to

the riches of His glory, to be

strengthened with might through

His Spirit in the inner man,

that Christ may dwell in your hearts

through faith; that you, being rooted

and grounded in love,

may be able to comprehend with

all the saints what is the width and

length and depth and height --

to know the love of Christ

which passes knowledge; that

you may be filled with all the

fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do

exceedingly abundantly above all

that we ask or think, according to

the power that works in us,

to Him be glory in the church

by Christ Jesus to all generations,

forever and ever. Amen."

Ephesians 3:14-21

"Then David lamented with this lamentation

over Saul and over Jonathan his son,

and he told them to teach the children

of Judah the Song of the Bow;

indeed it is written in the

Book of Jasher:

'The beauty of Israel is slain on your

high places! How the mighty

have fallen!'  ....

'From the blood of the slain,

from the fat of the mighty,

the bow of Jonathan did not turn back,

and the sword of Saul did not

return empty.' ...

   'How the mighty have fallen,

and the weapons of war perished!' "

2 Samuel 1:17-19, 22, 27

"And what more shall I say? For the time

would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak

and Samson and Jephthah, also of David

and Samuel and the prophets:

who through faith subdued kingdoms,

      worked righteousness, obtained promises,

stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the

violence of fire, escaped the edge of the

sword, out of weakness were made strong,

became valiant in battle, turned to flight the

armies of the aliens.  ...

They were stoned, they were sawn in two,

were tempted, were slain with the sword.

They wandered about in sheepskins

and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted,

tormented -- of whom the world was

not worthy."

Hebrews 11:32-34, 37-38

 "Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping,

and the Jews who came with her weeping,

He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.

And He said, 'Where have you laid him?'

They said to Him, 'Lord, come and see.'

Jesus wept.

Then the Jews said,

'See how He loved him!' "

John 11:33-36

"Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and

given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice

to God for a sweet-smelling aroma."

Ephesians 5:1-2

"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved,

put on tender mercies, kindness, humility,

meekness, longsuffering;

bearing with one another, and forgiving one

another, if anyone has a complaint against

another; even as Christ forgave you,

so you also must do.

But above all these things put on love,

which is the bond of perfection.

And let the peace of God rule in your

hearts, to which also you were called

in one body; and be thankful."

Colossians 3:12-15

 "These things I have spoken to you

while being present with you.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom

the Father will send in My name, He will

teach you all things, and bring to your

remembrance all things that I said to you.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to

you; not as the world gives do I give to you.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither

let it be afraid."

John 14:25-27
